Ugly opportunism by airlines

airlines are milking stranded customers of Manipur. Air Asia is charging INR 16,000 per person from Imphal to Guwahati (a 40-minutes flight) normal fare is anything from INR 2000-3000, max 5000.

I dont understand how the aviation minister can let something like this happen. Either they are in deep slumber or truly disregarded by the airlines. i would like to think they are not enablers and partners of airlines.

Why is their no cap on airfares?? more

No this is again talking point of old failed administration. Government can not demand a private business to do any such thing. Please keep in mind the reason AirIndia went bust is because of the same reason you are proposing. Stop pushing socialist ideas onto the private businesses. more
Non-lucrative routes - aviation minister proposed UDAN moniker milking the airlines. Historical perspective - 29 years, 27 airlines perished. https://www.dailypioneer.com/2023/columnists/bad-news.html more

Are you aware that almost all airlines are having financial problems keeping their aircraft in the sky? 3 airlines so far have folded up. Problem is 50% higher cost of ATF in India compared to international cost due to high taxes. We should clamour for lowering the cost of ATF and also put a cap on salary/pension increases. Both stoke inflation. Do you know the cost of international travel has gone up by leaps and bounds? more
This is one of the reasons why Modi should be dethroned in 2024. more
Extremely unfortunate. Disproportionate rise in prices to profiteer is uncalled for. Just because an airline has gone down doesnt mean the other ones should be demanding 5-10x more!! That is nothing short of looting. The logic indicated by Mr Padam Law is absurd. The discussion is about major spikes in air fare without rationale while he is confusing it for inflationary increases in employee compensation. We dont want airlines to lose money but at the same time they should not resort to daylight robbery. If you look at the last decade or so, aircrafts have become cramped, seats are uncomfortable and separately charged for, meals are sub-standard/over-priced and offerrings are sub-par. Why not close down all air travel if service is not a criteria and pricing is the only area of focus. more
