Idea on reducing Pollution in India

'The Commission for Air Quality Management in National Capital Region and Adjoining Areas Bill, 2021' is being discussed in Indian Parliament and will become law soon.

The Statement of Objects and Reasons of the Bill, piloted by Environment Minister states that it was noticed there is lack of a permanent, dedicated and participative mechanism adopting a collaborative and participatory approach involving relevant central ministries, state governments, local bodies and other stakeholders to tackle air pollution, in the NCR and adjoining areas.

I suggest that this commission be connected to thus pollution circle such that it can be a participative process from Day 1.

We dont want govt officers wondering what to do and instead hear it from real people on ground. more

Only connecting people from the Circle would serve no purpose nor they would be in a position to contribute meaningfully unless they possess adequate expertise in the field. Does the the Circle have such expertise has to be ensured first. more
Our main problem is to expect everything to be done by the government zeroing our responsibilities. Every year during rainy season the government calls every one requesting to plant at least two trees per head but unfortunately only a negligible proportion of our people respond to such calls. more
But what can the common people like us do?? The local Circles Manager should take it up with the government asap and see that action is taken immediately. more
Politicians with the connivance of the IAS have corrupted the country through and through. It is high time that these unscrupulous elements are curbed by the educated public, scientists, engineers and technologists to save our country from further environmental and ecological degradation.Involvement of senior citizens and local circles can go a long way. more
You are right Mr. Padmanabhan by saying that there is destruction of forests in the above states. Unfortunately you left out Jharkhand where there is fantastic destruction of forests because the poor cannot afford to refill their cylinders! Even the people who are asked to protect the forests are stealing from them. The population of India is so great you need much greater protection of the forests which is not done. more
The forest department and agriculture department should have a primary focus and targets for achieving green cover as well as preventing destruction of forests for accommodating human settlements. With modern technologies the government can easily avoid destruction of forest lands and at the same time encorage large scale agricultural production in the barren lands, desert areas, abandoned mines as well as the huge lands which the railways have occupied all over the country.Careful planning and use of available technologies can increase agricultural production significantly without increasing the area under agriculture. The pollution control boards need be manned by technologists and scientists and certainly not by administrative officers like the IAS. more
