Central water commission

If anyone in India is drawing ground water, do they need approval of central ground water authorities?

We are hearing that when one applies, you have to hire consultants (pay off basically) to get your approvals?

This is clearly not right. When you want everyone to be responsible, the process has to be moved online and made straight forward. more

Yes, one needs permission for digging borewells for drawing water from below, though illegalities by encroachers abound. more
tha judiceous use or ground water is tha prime responsibility of each one of us. Citizen in large town and metros are consuming large quantity of water to the extent of misusie i.e. more than 200 litre per capita, on one hand while person in villages are not getting 50 lit of assured water . if we do not behave responsively there is no other way to make law for regulation and making the life miserable . Moreover the municipal corp. should take proactive measure for adopting water recharge in cities where extensive pavement and non permeable concrete surface are created. These non permeable surface ncreases the chance of water runoff and flush flow to crate the water logging . more
So far as I know in general, the government today does not permit installation of borewells even in new buildings, let alone in older ones. The reason is that the water level in the area of Delhi NCR has sunk to dangerously low levels. That's the reason why emphasis is being put on water harvesting in every building..... more
Digging boreholes or wells in private property, it appears no permission required. These private owners digs 700-800 feet and exploits the boring facility. Dear all, note, unless you all recharge earth, there will not be water underground. India receives good or reasonably good rain. The rained water is drained and ground is allowed to dry,by our own selfish, greedy community. Recharge earth by diverting the rained water into a well, boreholes or create underground tank and earth absorb water through pours holls. more
One should be able to get ground water as required for personal use and not commercial exploitation. more
