Action Request : Need to contain rising edible oil prices

Many of you have been writing in different circles about the rising prices of edible oil and some of you participated in the recent survey on the same. Below is the report which is going viral in digital media:

Impact of rising edible oil prices on household budgets

The key here is that Government steps in to give some additional relief and takes immediate measures to curtail blackmarketing, hoarding and cap trade margins on edible oil.

We have a great data set. If you share the same with your whatsapp contacts and Government contacts, perhaps we could see some concrete action in the immediate term.

Very valid. Waste edible oil may be converted into bio-diesel as an energy source in running vehicles, and thus being organic, is much cleaner that diesel, a major cause of India's air pollution. The process known as transesterification, already well tried, and even commercially used in the developed countries. Large catering establishments may be approached to sell their used oil. This measure would also augment our demand for petroleum, especially now with rising fuel prices. Diesel price may then be increased to bring at par with petrol, thus incentivising using biodiesel.
Govt. is hardly serious to control the price of edible oil. Spike in price of oil is truly exhorbitant. Govt. hardly bothers to combat the price. Shortage of oil seed is nothing new. Such shortage is continuing since 90's. Farmers in Punjab made a good beginning of Sunflower cultivation and cotton seed processing in late 80's but discontinued later in absence of good support.
We are not Self sufficient in Edible Oil. Either we produce more or Reduce consumption. For reducing Consumption one of the way is reducing Population.
Dear Local Circles Manager, you have asked us to put the same on social media. Why does the LC not do so. It will create a better visual and thousands will then put forth their views. The Change organisation has led a campaign on this but still the government has done naught!!!! It is only interested in gaining money at all costs.
Centre should help northern states for diversification in agriculture for the small farmers and guarantee on MSP for oilseeds that could help to improve self sufficiency in edible oil and bring down prices up to 30-40%
