Food supplied in trains from pantry cars is absolutely unhealthy and some of the vendors takes advantage of the staff to sell their packets. Even the quantity and quality of tea and coffee is not as per standard prescribed
Checks and integrity of railway officials in maintaining standards of food quality is of utmost importance. The reputed COMESUM supplied very good food up to few years back since its inception. Now see the quality of food supplied by COMESUM. The food quality in SHATABADI trains have deteriorated over the time. There shall be some affective public control over food suppliers in trains to insure good quality. The tendency of vendors to fleecing of passengers shall be controlled. Charging right price for good food is no problem.
The quality of food served is not at all proportional to the price charged to the passengers. How can IRCTC allow such overcharging for services far below the standard acceptable?
Food is costly.. The amount they charge for a meal would actually buy me a haldiram's thali that is wholesome, tasty and thousand time cleaner hygenic and of a better quality. Railways should think of appointing reputed restaurants for this purpose
