LocalCircles to Connect 50 Delhi Neighborhoods Free of Cost through Delhi Government’s Bhagidari RWA Program

Connectivity to strengthen neighborhood communities in Delhi/NCR and enable neighbors to easily find credible local information and emergency assistance

New Delhi, India, June 27, 2013 LocalCircles (www.localcircles.com), the world’s first comprehensive local social network that helps improve daily lives of local community citizens, announced today that its patent pending - real identity based online local network - will be available free of cost to the first 50 Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) that are currently enrolled in Government of Delhi’s Bhagidari RWA program.

Key Highlights:
  • Connecting Residents and RWA members in a Neighborhood through internet and smart phones.
  • Makes managing a neighborhood easy
  • Enables residents to quickly seek daily life information and emergency assistance from each other.
  • 50 RWAs of the Bhagidari program to get this technology free of cost.
  • Signups available at Government of Delhi’s e-SLA camps held on June 30th, July 7th and July 14th or via email.

This local network designed to easily link up residents of a particular neighborhood/s and their respective Resident Welfare Association/s, enables all members of that neighborhood to stay in touch through internet and smart phones – at all times.

Such connectivity is particularly useful in case of an emergency situation (e.g.: safety, fire, medical, outages etc.) or when there is a need to address any pressing or common neighborhood issues.

LocalCircles, launched by the Chief Minister of Delhi, Sheila Dikshit in March this year has already made the platform available to over 75 different neighborhoods in Delhi/NCR. At the time of the launch Mrs. Dikshit said, "Delhi has a participative governance model wherein currently 3000+ RWAs come together from all parts of society. LocalCircles will now add a new dimension to it by bringing together all the RWAs and citizens of a neighborhood to communicate in a much more effective manner." "It is a great step forward and I am excited about it", Mrs. Dikshit continued.

"From issues such as addressing dog menace, to easily finding Emergency ENT assistance within minutes in the neighborhood, to residents discussing ideas to making the neighborhood more secure, Citizens of Delhi/NCR are already using the platform in many unique ways", said Sachin Taparia, Chairman and Managing Director of LocalCircles. "For the first time in the history of Delhi, neighbors have been connected electronically and they are communicating zealously with each other," continued Mr. Taparia.

"The Bhagidari Cell of Delhi is pleased with the fact that LocalCircles is making its technology available free of cost to the first 50 RWAs that will sign up", said Kulanand Joshi, Additional Secretary to Chief Minister and Head of the Bhagidari Cell, Government of NCT of Delhi. "We invite all the Bhagidari RWAs to benefit from this and connect their neighborhoods’ electronically. If everyone got their neighborhood connected, this could make Neighborhood Watch easy as it will help enable neighbors to look out for each other and their community", continued Mr. Joshi.

"Once LocalCircles is made available to a citizen through its neighborhood, there are a lot of other benefits that automatically follow", said Mr. Taparia. "For example, they can find themselves a free invite to join the popular ‘Health and Diet Circle of Delhi/NCR’ which currently includes over 10 Doctors from different specialties ranging from Cardiology to Pediatrics and more. Also a lot of local people participate daily and contribute to this Circle, discussing from their own experiences of health related care or experiences with health providers", continued Mr. Taparia. "Finding a trusted local Doctor, a good hospital or some reliable advice on common ailments was never available on fingertips till now. There are 30 similar health need or interest based local circles available, all designed to make daily life of a citizen easy in Delhi/NCR", said Mr. Taparia.

LocalCircles will be accepting sign-ups for the Bhagidari Resident Welfare Associations under its FREE program at the e-SLA camps organized by the Government of Delhi on the following dates:

June 30th (Thyagraj Sports Complex)
July 7th (Talkatora Stadium)
